Medical Weight Loss
Obesity is a significant medical concern in the United States. Studies estimate that more than 60 percent of American adults are overweight or obese. Health risks associated with obesity include type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, sleep apnea, and cancer.
Dr. Fein at North Dallas Wellness Center offers the newest, proven prescription medications along with in-depth dietary guidance and support to help his patients lose their excess weight once and for all.
Semaglutide for Weight Loss
Over the last 15 years, semaglutide has been used to treat type 2 diabetes but has recently been approved by the FDA to help manage weight loss (along with diet and exercise) in overweight or obese adults with additional risk factors. ¹
Semaglutide is a once-weekly medication that is injected under the skin at any time of day, with or without food. It is important to note that semaglutide should be injected on the same day each week for optimal results.
Semaglutide is generally well tolerated by most patients. The most common side effects are GI symptoms, often due to low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). Although semaglutide by itself usually does not cause hypoglycemia, blood sugar can be affected by other factors, so it is important to drink lots of water and not skip meals.

Tirzepatide for Weight Loss
Tirzepatide is one of the newest prescription medications on the market for the treatment of type 2 diabetes and weight loss. Along with a healthy diet and regular exercise, tirzepatide (like semaglutide) can help those with a BMI over 30 experiencing weight-related health conditions shed excess weight quickly and effectively.
Similar to semaglutide, tirzepatide is a weight loss medication that is injected once weekly under a soft portion of the skin and can be taken either with or without food. Tirzepatide should be administered around the same time on the same day each week for optimal results.
Tirzepatide works in a similar way to semaglutide, helping to suppress appetite and break down sugars and fats within the body more easily to facilitate weight loss. Mild side effects of tirzepatide include gastrointestinal upset; however, the medication is typically well tolerated by most patients.
